The University of Nairobi’s C4D Lab in partnership with Google today launched Mlab. Mlab is a free, open and distributed online tool that enables internet users, regulators, internet service providers and internet researchers to get objective data on the speed and quality of broadband connections.

MLab will be valuable to internet users and the public in that they can test their network connections, they can access information that enables them to diagnose the performance of their connection and also find out what they can do to improve their throughput. Mlab partners in Kenya are: KENET and C4DLab.

In attendance was Prof. Henry Mutoro, Dvc Academic Affairs, Prof. Okello Odongo, Director School of Computing and Informatics, Catherine Gitau a representative from the Ministry of Information Communication & Technology, Collins Ndukwe from Google, Prof Kashorda from KENET, among others.

Mlab was officially launched at 12.12p.m by Catherine Gitau from the Ministry of Information Communication & Technology

The event took place at the School of Computing & Informatics – Chiromo Campus, Arziki Conference Room from 9 am to 1pm.
