C4DLab, the University of Nairobi Innovation Hub has started a training program to help people create innovations in partnership with UNICEF and INTEL.

DESIGN THINKING

A leading practitioner of Design Thinking defines this as a human-centered approach to innovation that integrates the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.

INTERNET OF THINGS

Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of physical objects, devices, vehicles, buildings and other items which are embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity, which enables these objects to collect and exchange data.

PROGRAM GOAL

The goal of the “Design Thinking for IoT” program is to develop user centric sound innovations in Media, Environmental monitoring, Infrastructure management, Manufacturing, Energy management, Medical and healthcare systems, Building and home automation, Transportation among other areas that can be absorbed into the incubation and accelerator  programs such as Africa Technology and Innovation Accelerator (AfTIA) that is run by C4DLab and be developed into viable businesses.

Participants will be trained on IoT, guided on business modeling on any area that utilizes IoT and mentored to develop a tested and validated business models, including a clear sense of the customers, the unique value proposition, suppliers, cost structures, revenue streams and the key partners.

FORMAT

C4DLab will avail a lab where startups can work on their projects. Startups will be given sensors, mother boards, Galileo boards among other tools and will be trained on Design Thinking, Business modeling and business development by very competent resource persons.
