The first Kenyan satellite was launched on Friday 11th may from the Japan Space Agency (JAXA) Tsukuba Space Centre in Tokyo, Japan. The satellite named 1st Kenya University Nano Satellite Precursor Flight (1KUNS-PF) was successfully deployed from KIBO (a satellite deployment module).

The ICT Center BSRIS implementation team attended a Biometric training in Sandton, South Africa on February 25th to March 2nd 2018. The training covered various aspects of Biometrics technology which when set up will enhance the Biometric Student Registration and Identification system (BSRIS) currently implemented throughout the University.

The January 2018 webmetrics world ranking results are out. The University of Nairobi has maintained its top spot as an academic giant being ranked position 7 in Africa and 874 in the world. UoN also emerged top in East Africa beating legendary Makerere University which took position 11 in Africa and 1113 worldwide.

UON was ranked the best in Kenya followed by Egerton University, Kenyatta University, Moi University, Jomo Kenyatta and Masinde Muliro University.

ICT Department end year party was held on Friday 15th December 2017 at Safari Bowling Green, Parklands.

The party which started off at one p.m. allowed members from ICT from various colleges to interact and have merry. 

Present at the party was former Director ICT Dr. Ibrahim Otieno who said he was honored to be invited and he will continue missing the entire UON ICT department.
