|President Uhuru Kenyatta Lays Foundation Stone for the University of Nairobi Towers|
President Uhuru Kenyatta has challenged the private sector to partner with the government in setting up endowment funds that will strengthen the capacity of higher learning institutions in Kenya.
Speaking during the laying of the foundation stone for the University of Nairobi’s state-of-the-art green towers on August, 22, 2014 the president said that for a long time, institutions of higher learning have depended on public grants which are not sufficient for building their capacities and general development.
The president also reiterated the government’s intention to work with private investors interested in undertaking major development projects in the country. Present during the colorful event was Deputy President William Ruto, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi, UoN’s Chancelor, Dr. Vijoo Ratansi, Chairman of Council, Dr. Idle Farah, Vice Chancelor, Prof George Magoha, Director ICT, Mr Ibrahim Otieno among other university management officials.
