The2nd ICT Technology Day for 2019 was held today Wednesday 6th at the ict boardroom.

A team from Enovise gave a presentation on information security and what companies and institutions can do to protect themselves from damaging breaches.

In his presentation Mr. Gilbert Nyadenje Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Enovise cited some of the attacks that institution can face. They include;

  • Ransomware attack-is a type of malicious software that threatens to publish the victim's data or block access to it unless a ransom is paid.
  • Insider fraud threats-"a company’s employee use of IT for the unauthorized modification, addition or deletion of an organization's data for personal gain or the theft of information that leads to an identity crime
  • Phishing & domain spoofing- when an attacker appears to use a company's domain to impersonate a company or one of its employees.

The COO concluded his presentation by discussing the ISMS (information security management system) integration approach. This is a set of policies and procedures for systematically managing an organization's sensitive data. The aim of ISMS is to minimize risk and ensure business continuity by limiting the impact of a security breach.
