GUIDELINE ON PROJECT WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT AND HOSTING
REQUEST
The request to either develop or host a project (not academic) website should be in the form of an internal memo addressed to the Director, ICT.
APPROVAL
The request should bear the approval of the Director ICT before any action can be undertaken.
DEVELOPMENT
Upon receipt of the approved request, the Project Leader, Websites assigns the development task to the appropriate Web Administrative Officer.
The Web Administrative Officer, in consultation with the requestor, designs the website on a website development server.
CONTENT UPDATE ON THE DEVELOPMENT SERVER
The developer in consultation with the requestor identifies an editor to the developed website, who is then granted EDITOR rights to the website.
The developer maintains USER 1 details which are then shared with the PL, DBA and sysadmin upon completion of the task.
TESTING
Testing of the developed website should be on the development server.
Testing is by both the developer and the identified editor of the new website.
HOSTING
The developed website is ready for hosting once the user department agrees to the design, and the identified editor is able to update the website.
SLA
Development: The requested website should be delivered within 2 weeks of receiving the approved request.
Hosting: The designed website should be hosted within 2 days after communication by the Developer/PL.
INVOICING
For paid development, refer to the invoicing and payment guideline document.
CLOSURE
The project website development/hosting is completed once a response memo is done through the Director ICT. The response memo indicates the URL to the hosted website, the editor, and support details.
