TROUBLE SHOOTING KASPERSKY ON WINDOWS VISTA (STARTER).
Problem: Disabled KES10 on windows vista.
Solution Uninstalling completely KES and re-installing it will correct the anomaly.
An error may sometimes occur when attempting to uninstall Kaspersky Anti-Virus via Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
As a result, the application will not be uninstalled or will be uninstalled partially. For example this error on Windows Vista starter: “Your computer already has another localization of a Kaspersky Lab Application installed. Please uninstall it before installing Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows”.
Uninstalling it with the old version of the removal utility will not work. In these cases, you can use the latest version kavremvr.exe utility as a solution.
The latest version 1.0.555 of the utility supports removal of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows Critical Fix 2, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows and Network agent 10.
To use the removal utility:
-
Extract its contents and run the kavremvr.exe file. The utility will automatically identify the application installed on your computer;
-
Type the displayed code into the field below the picture;
-
Click the Remove button;
-
Wait for a dialog box to appear, informing you about a successful application uninstallation;
-
Attention! The utility removes even password-protected applications.
-
Click OK and restart the computer.
You can now re-install KES10 and it should work.
