The latest Webometrics(July 2020 Webometrics) ranking of world universities has named University of Nairobi as the best University in East Africa and position 10 in Africa.

University of Nairobi is also among top 1000 best Universities in the world  after it was ranked position 956.

Webometric ranking focuses on four parameters namely Presence, Impact,Openness and Excellence. In the four parameters , the UoN is position 198 in the presence rank, 1075 in impact, 749 in the openness rank and 1602 in excellence. The Ranking Web or Webometrics is the largest academic ranking of higher education institutions.

In Africa, University of Cape Town is number one followed by University of the Witwatersrand and Stellenbosch University at position 3. Makerere University is ranked at number 12 while Kenyatta University(KU) position 28.

In the world, Harvard University took position 1, Stanford University position 2 and Massachusetts Institute of Technology position 3.
