The University of Nairobi has welcomed over 10,000 new students for the Academic Year 2020/21.
The new students have been admitted to the six UoN Colleges and the ODeL Campus. This year's admission is a milestone in the history of the University of Nairobi as it is the first time that the institution has conducted end to end academic processes using online platforms.
In the Vice-Chancellor’s virtual address to the new students, Prof. Stephen Kiama welcomed them and gave them wholesome advice that will help them steer their way through university life.
“Congratulations for the hard work that propelled you to be admitted into this prestigious University,” said the Vice-Chancellor. “Your arrival signals the assurance of continuity of the University. You have now become members of UON family and we are happy that you have chosen to join us.”
Prof. Kiama also noted that the application of technology in solving problems and in communication is one of the critical skills for the future that every graduate from the University of Nairobi must acquire for work and for personal survival in this digital era is important.
The Director ICT Mr Paul Ndungu Kariuki was among the top University management officers to address the students virtually. The director guided student on how to use online platforms to attend online classes and also how to use free bundles such soma na telcom bundles which are provided by the university.
