The Directorate of Information and Communication Technology received recognition for exemplary performance in the 2020/2021 Performance Contract.  ICT clinched position number three beating twelve other directorates of the Central Administration at the University of Nairobi.

ICT also received special recognition as the best performing unit for demonstrating core values of Teamwork and Innovativeness in realizing the mission of the University.

Speaking during the University of Nairobi Performance Contracting and Staff Recognition Awards held on March 23, 2022, the Director ICT applauded staff in ICT for their diligence, commitment, and hard work which saw the Directorate receive recognition. Further, he commended the team for their innovativeness and work dedication displayed during the COVID-19 period that saw the University continue to carry on with its mandate remotely.

When asked about the plans ICT has for 2022, the Director stated that ICT plans to ensure to support the  University to deliver on its core mandate of teaching, learning, and research by through innovations should there be another lockdown, “ICT plans to make the  University paperless by implementing a system that will see the automation of the most administrative process. We also plan to adopt the asynchronous learning and we are also working on implementing the SMART Classroom innovation” said Paul Kariuki, Director, ICT.
