The first case of the Corona Virus in Subsaharan Africa was diagonised in late January at University of Nigeria, College of Medicine. Since then Universities in Subsaharan Africa have come together to assist in the global response to the pandemic.

The objective of this survey is to evaluate the training that has been taking place to prepare you to offer online facilitation services during this period that the university is preparing its staff and students to access and use various online learning tools. The findings of this survey will be used to improve on our training and take any other necessary measures to close any gaps identified by the survey.

The University through a memo to the Senate's Ad-hoc committes on Covid-19 situation, has proposed that 2.5% of the funds for Covid-19 be used for the development of diagnostics, therpeutics and vaccines. They also proposed on tax exempti8ns for equipment, reagentsand other scientific commodities for Covid-19 and ither infectious diseases.
This proposal was made by the College of Healgh Sciences -led consortium which comprises of The Kenya Health Federation, Kenya Health Informatics Association and The Health Sector Board of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance.
Telkom has partnered with the University to provide tailored data solution for E-learning programmes. Over 40,000 faculty members staff and students will be provided with customized data solution across the 13 campuses during the Covid-19 pandemic period.
The Soma na Telkom Bundles will be a monthly post paid data bundles that will enable the University population to continue working and studying from wherever they are based.

Through the different spheres of influence especially through its researchers, the University has played a key role in providing the correct information to the public on the covid-19.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama highlighted that most UoN staff are working with the government in giving advice and educating the public through various media platforms on the novel corona virus pandemic.
