ICT BEST OPTION FOR SMEs DURING CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC .

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, digital services such as online education, virtual meeting rooms and online marketplaces have kept our economies running and helped us stay connected. Almost all of these services are underpinned by cross-border digital trade. Even if you meet colleagues from your own town in a video conference, consult a local doctor online, or follow a virtual class by a teacher in your neighbourhood, the companies providing the networks and platforms for these interactions are probably at least partly in another country.

KENYA WILL SOON DEPLOY ROBOTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CORONAVIRUS

Kenya is closely working with Mission Excellence Global Service Limited to introduce robots which will help in the fight against covid- 19 pandemic. The robots have a capability to connect virtually to a doctor for patient consultation and also can print prescriptions.

The robots will be used as the interface between front line doctors  and patients to avoid any possible human contact.

Market Insurance brokers in digital partnership deal to beat the pandemic.Local underwriters have often been tipped to adopt insurance-focused technology.  The Association of Kenya Professional Insurance Agents (AKPIA) has entered into a partnership with a digital firms in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic. The partnership with mTek Services, a digital insurance broker, is aimed at promoting uptake of insurance in the face of the pandemic.

Collapsing revenues, rising layoffs: the coronavirus pandemic  crisis is battering media outlets across Africa that were already struggling for cash and often facing pressure from hostile authorities.

The news of cutbacks was sudden and painful for journalists at two of Nigeria's most popular independent newspapers when bosses from The Punch and Vanguard made their announcements last month.

Kenya's national regulator on Friday unveiled what it called a "historic" fund worth just under $1 million to help some 150 broadcasters weather the storm.

PROF STEPHEN GITAHI KIAMA OFFICIALLY INSTALLED AS THE 8TH VICE CHANCELLOR OF UoN

Professor Gitahi Kiama has been  officially installed as the 8th vice chancellor of the University of Nairobi .The glamorous ceremony took place in the  main campus Taifa hall on June 5th 2020. The occasion was graced  by the  top brass of the university management , officials from the ministry of Education, subsequent Vice chancellors and UoN members of staff.

National Transport Authority is making a second attempt to implement cashless fares on Kenyan roads. This comes after the first attempt(2015)which failed miserably.

The world now is becoming digital in the wake of covid-19. Teaching and learning , meetings and even treatment are now conducted online(digital).

People are now avoiding printed papers i.e newspapers and even  hard cash because of the corona virus transmission. This has contributed to the digital intrusion to the humanity.Companies are now looking into re-engineering of their businesses into the digital world .

Safaricom and other  print media like the standard newspaper have brought their heads together to come up with  an online newspaper at a cost of 20 bob.
