UON VC WELCOMES OVER 10,000 NEW STUDENTS VIRTUALLY

The University of Nairobi has welcomed over 10,000 new students for the Academic Year 2020/21.

The new students have been admitted to the six UoN Colleges and the ODeL Campus. This year's admission is a milestone in the history of the University of Nairobi as it is the first time that the institution has conducted end to end academic processes using online platforms.

In the Vice-Chancellor’s virtual address to the new students, Prof. Stephen Kiama welcomed them and gave them wholesome advice that will help them steer their way through university life.

VIRTUAL 63RD GRADUATION CEREMONY – FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2020

The University of Nairobi wishes to inform all students from the Colleges of Agriculture & Veterinary Sciences, Architecture & Engineering, Biological & Physical Sciences, Education & External Studies and ODeL Campus who qualified for the award of various degrees and diplomas at the end of last academic year (2019/2020) and members of the public, that the 63rd Graduation Ceremony will be held VIRTUALLY on Friday, September 25, 2020 commencing at 8.00 a.m. at the Great Court.

UNIVERSITIES TO REMAIN CLOSSED AS ONLINE LEARNING TAKES SHAPE .

Most governments around the world have temporarily closed educational institutions in an attempt to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new reality is that learning will no longer be tenable through face-to-face and onsite interactions as has been the case.We are at a turning point when technology is the driver and education, just like other sectors, it has   to change and adopt new methodologies and approaches.

UON READY TO HELP JUDICIARY COME UP WITH DATA CENTER

Chief Justice  Maraga  who is the president of supreme court of Kenya  revealed that the judiciary is in the process of building a data center. He indicated that he  would be glad to partner with the University of Nairobi's ICT expertise in implementing the project.He said this during a courtesy call to the University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof Stephene Kiama .

User Guide for the KENET Sponsored Telkom SIM Cards

KENET has re-introduced authentication on their portal for those using the KENET-Sponsored Telkom Sim Cards. 
The login credentials as as follows 
Username :  Mobile Number without the leading zero e.g. 776037743@kenet.ac.ke 
Password:  Use the last six (6) digits of the serial number on the SIM card
For those who might have Eduroam accounts can use them for the above service.

EMPLOYEES ARE WEAK-LINK OF CYBER SECURITY ATTACKS AMIDST COVID-19

 Employees have become a weak-link amidst Covid-19. The  crisis has seen an upsurge use of technology in unprecedented ways. Many companies and even government institutions have adopted a work-from-home routine, some having to also adopt a ‘bring your own device policy.

This move has increased organisational risk and cyber-security etiquette has begun shifting to the end users. As a result, the most prevalent attack vectors going around include phishing and social engineering.
