ICT STAFF TAKE PART IN TREE PLANTING EXERCISE AT WANGARI MAATHAI INSTITUTE

Staff from ICT center took part in tree planting exercise which took place on 18th May  2021

The exercise wich was organized by the University of Nairobi in partnership with the Equity Group Foundation, Kenya Forest Service, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Interior & Coordination of National government saw about 3,000 trees planted at  the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Services and the Wangari Maathai Institute. 2000 seedlings were also  distributed to various campuses of  the University of Nairobi 

TRAINING ON TRANSFORMATIVE PEDAGOGY (ONLINE)- ACADEMIC STAFF

The University of Nairobi Management has scheduled a 3-weeks online training workshop on transformative pedagogy in higher education with special reference to asynchronous e-learning mode of delivery.

The training will be conducted by the Centre for Pedagogy and Andragogy (CEPA) in collaboration with Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) team and is targeted at academic staff. 80% of the presentations/training sessions will be done asynchronously.

COVID-19 VACCINE

 University Health Services (UHS)has been registered as a COVID-19 Vaccination Centre by the Ministry of Health and the Nairobi County Government, through the Nairobi Metropolitan Services.

The Vaccination commenced  on Thursday April 8, 2021 at 8.30AM outside of the Main Students Clinic.The University Vaccination Centre will observe Government prioritization guidelines and to comply with COVID-19 health protocols. In this regard, the following categories of the priority target groups will be eligible:

UoN STUDENT INNOVATES PASSENGER OVERLOAD DETECTOR.

Abundant Karanja, a first year student studying Urban Planning at the University of Nairobi, was among the students who presented his innovation at the UoN Talent day. This is a device that uses infrared technology to detect excess passengers in Public Service Vehicles and automatically alerts the NTSA. It utilizes a counting mechanism to achieve this.

The detector counts people as they board and alight the vehicle and alerts NTSA when its overloaded.
