UON signs an agreement with Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA)

The University of Nairobi signed an agreement with Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA) to scale adaptation efforts in Africa through a project titled, ‘Enhancing and scaling up climate adaptation for resilient infrastructure in kenya and the east african region”. The agreement worth Kshs. 140M will see the University deliver a master class on Climate change and conduct innovative climate change solutions competition among the youth. The top 3 innovative solutions will be awarded Kshs. 5M each.

HCIA-DATACOM TRAIN THE TRAINER (TTT) PROGRAM AT UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI.

The TTT program is crafted to helps instructors master basic datacom knowledge and capabilities in small and medium-sized network planning and design, deployment, implementation, and O&M optimization.

In the recently concluded Train The Trainers program, 21 lecturers got trained and certified for HCIA Datacom as per the UoN-HUAWEI Collaboration Agreement. The 2 weeks training was held at the University of Nairobi, ICT Centre. The lecturers were selected from the following universities:

Murang'a University

Launch of University of Nairobi foundation.

The University of Nairobi vice-chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama on Monday, June 20, 2022 went round on a sensitization and mobilization agenda. He met members of staff from different faculties ahead of the upcoming launch of the University of Nairobi Foundation on Thursday, June 30th, 2022. The goal of the Foundation is to support the University in fulfilling its mission of teaching and learning, research, and community service through the mobilization of funds using established legal and professional fundraising tools.

More than 7000 Seedlings planted on Annual Tree Planting Day

The University community and its partners joined at the faculty of agriculture and planted more than 7000 tree seedlings on Friday, May 13, 2022, on the Annual Tree Planting Day.

Equity Group Foundation,County Government, National Government,  Shamba Café, Loresho Community and Association of Green champions joined the university to plant and grow trees.

UoN Smart Classroom Launched

The University of Nairobi, International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI), UNESCO Priority Africa and External Relations Sector, UNESCO regional office for Eastern Africa in Nairobi, the Kenya Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Monday, April 25, 2022 launched the Smart Classroom.

The Smart Classroom was officially launched through a hybrid event at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

Wangare Maathai honored with a stamp by the UN

The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) issued a definitive stamp to mark the birthday of Wangari Maathai who was born  1st April 1940 

The €0.85 stamp is part of a series of definitive stamps illustrated by Martin Mörck (Norway). The German quote on the stamp reads “When we plant trees, we plant the seeds of peace and hope”.

Impact Farm

During the  EAC Digital Innovation event, UoN students emerges top with their UoN  impact farming innovation 

The team which comprises of Charles Oyamo, Iyvie Mboya, Kairu Karega and Jecinta Mwangi all Journalism and Mass communication students; They were among other innovators who formed 10 teams that underwent a rigorous one week boot-camp at Strathmore University to gain insight, guidance and advice on their innovations. They then pitched their idea to a panel of judges and wowed them resulting to their win.

UoN wins Moot Court Competition

The University of Nairobi  Law students  won the 10th edition of the moot court competition for the first time.

Trevah Kamau won the overall best researcher while Yvonne Sarange and Joseph Njapit won the overall best oralists.

The moot Court competition event was organized by Kenyatta University and held at Kenyatta University, school of law from 21st -25th March 2022. The competition featured 23 teams from the 14 law schools across Kenya with each team comprising of three members, two oralists and one researcher.
