Wangare Maathai honored with a stamp by the UN

The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) issued a definitive stamp to mark the birthday of Wangari Maathai who was born  1st April 1940 

The €0.85 stamp is part of a series of definitive stamps illustrated by Martin Mörck (Norway). The German quote on the stamp reads “When we plant trees, we plant the seeds of peace and hope”.

Impact Farm

During the  EAC Digital Innovation event, UoN students emerges top with their UoN  impact farming innovation 

The team which comprises of Charles Oyamo, Iyvie Mboya, Kairu Karega and Jecinta Mwangi all Journalism and Mass communication students; They were among other innovators who formed 10 teams that underwent a rigorous one week boot-camp at Strathmore University to gain insight, guidance and advice on their innovations. They then pitched their idea to a panel of judges and wowed them resulting to their win.

UoN wins Moot Court Competition

The University of Nairobi  Law students  won the 10th edition of the moot court competition for the first time.

Trevah Kamau won the overall best researcher while Yvonne Sarange and Joseph Njapit won the overall best oralists.

The moot Court competition event was organized by Kenyatta University and held at Kenyatta University, school of law from 21st -25th March 2022. The competition featured 23 teams from the 14 law schools across Kenya with each team comprising of three members, two oralists and one researcher.

ICT among top best performing directorates in the University of Nairobi

The Directorate of Information and Communication Technology received recognition for exemplary performance in the 2020/2021 Performance Contract.  ICT clinched position number three beating twelve other directorates of the Central Administration at the University of Nairobi.

ICT also received special recognition as the best performing unit for demonstrating core values of Teamwork and Innovativeness in realizing the mission of the University.

UON PARTNERS WITH QWETU ON A 2800 BED STUDENT RESIDENCE

The University of Nairobi and Qwetu Student Housing  have announced the commencement of a project to build a 2,800- bed capacity Qwetu and Qejani Student residence at the Chiromo . 

Speaking during the project’s official dedication and laying of the foundation stone ceremony held at the UoN Chiromo Campus, University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi described the partnership as one that would help address accommodation challenges at the institution which currently has an acute shortage of over 45,000 beds.
