Closing Ceremony

The HUAWEI HCIA boot camp closing ceremony was held on Friday 14th June at UON towers. The program consisted on a group of 55 students from various schools; school of engineering, school of computing, dept. of physics, school of math’s school of business ODEL and staff from ICT Centre.

The HCIA curriculum included: network fundamentals, basic connection methods of popular networks, basic network construction, troubleshooting of common network faults and installation and commissioning of HUAWEI routing and switching devices.

The program coordinator, Mr. Joram Kinuthia Ag. Deputy Director NIS, noted that there was fair representation of both genders

On his part, Prof. Ayub Gitau the Dean, Sch of Engineering noted that most innovations happen during the youth years since most young people have the drive. He urged the students to interact and do networking.

The Director ICT congratulated the trainees and wished them well in their exams. He noted the program is diverse as it creates solutions to existing problems affecting Kenyans. He also encouraged the students to tell others about the program so that they can also benefit from it and get a chance to sharpen their skills. He noted the course has enabled them to achieve application and skills devt courses as well as practical and project based skills and courses.

This is the 4th Cohort that HUAWEI is training. They received over 100 applications and narrowed it down to 50 students. Once the students sit for their exams, HUAWEI will provide internship and jobs to the top students.

The HUAWEI ICT academy goal is to bridge the gap between talent capability and the students.
